Fireside Apple Scionwood
Fireside Apple Scionwood
Fireside was introduced in 1943 by the University of Minnesota as a cold-hardy selection for northern growers. A cross of McIntosh × Longfield, it’s valued for its winter hardiness and sweet flavor.
Fruit is large with deep red skin and juicy, tender flesh. Flavor is mildly sweet with low acidity, making it excellent for fresh eating and salads. Fireside also stores well, maintaining quality into winter. Ripens mid- to late-season (early October in the Midwest).
Trees are vigorous, hardy, and productive—well suited for colder climates and dependable annual crops.
