Ginger Gold Apple Scionwood
Ginger Gold Apple Scionwood
Ginger Gold originated in Virginia in the 1960s and was introduced commercially in the 1980s. Believed to be a chance seedling related to Golden Delicious, it’s one of the earliest high-quality apples of the season.
Fruit is medium-sized with smooth yellow skin and crisp, fine-textured flesh. The flavor is mildly sweet with a light tart finish—excellent for fresh eating, applesauce, and early-season baking. Unlike many early apples, Ginger Gold holds its texture well and resists browning.
Trees are vigorous, productive, and tend to bear annually. Ripens very early (late August in the Midwest), making it a great way to start the apple season.
